Mitchell Darland, born 1983, is a Californian artist who mainly works in ceramic sculpture. By emphasising aesthetics, he creates poetic dreamlike compositions in which fiction and reality meet, past and present fuse. Time and memory always play a key role.

By applying a metaphorical language, he absorbs the traditions of the past and remembrance into daily life. This personal follow-up and revival of past traditions is important as an act of meditation.

His works sometimes radiate a disconcerting beauty with many layers of meaning, striving to evoke a poetic significance in everyday life.

Mitchell Darland currently lives and works in Coursegoules, southern France.
